  • First berry of the season

Drumroll.....here it is in all its glory, my first ripe berry of the season. It is Snowchaser. This is a small plant that I got in the summer last year. True to its form, it is my earliest variety. Taste was very good as well, sweet and plump. Due to its size and beating it took in a pot in the summer heat, I don't have a ton of berries on this plant. But it is in the ground now and happy. Luckily, all of my other varieties are just loaded this year.

Nice berry. Soon there will be lots. Think I ate 3 this morning but it is just such a tease, I figure two more weeks until they really start to get cranking.
Cutting sales on willsfigs.com started Nov 1 and will continue till about March 1.

Just purchaed 6 Snow chasers from Florida Hills today, trying to extend my season with my Sweet Crisp, Emerald, and Jewel I also got from them a few weeks ago. I want to add Late season Raven as well...hopefully they will get it in soon.

Sweet crisp, Snowchaser, and Raven all have the highest flavor ratings, so i'm pretty stoked for having 2 of those 3 which are rated well above everything out there right now from UF. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pdffiles/HS/HS124500.pdf

I believe this is the same publication as your link, only in non-pdf form. The graph with the flavor ratings is easier to read in this: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/hs1245

The 4 that are rated '9' in taste are: Sweetcrisp, Kestrel, Snowchaser, and Scintilla. But good luck getting any from 'the bird' series, including Kestrel and Raven. The new agreement of not reselling them prevents the general public from obtaining them.

My local Home Depot was selling Scintilla a few years ago and I could kick myself for not pickup up a few. This is another variety I want to try.

You can buy Scintilla from Homedepot online. I think about $8 each., plus shipping.
