  • Blueberry plant spacing?

I asked this in another thread and got a couple answers, thanks guys. I figured I would start a thread proper and see what feedback we get.
I have northern highbush varieties. The first 2 bushes I planted years back were 3' apart, that wasn't far enough because it didn't take long for them to mingle and shade each other resulting in decreased berries on that side. I have the space to keep them separate now but still don't really want to excessively waste space. The research I've done says 5-6' between center for best production. I was originally going to go with 4' until I found the suggested spacing. 5' would be acceptable but less allows more space for other stuff which is what we are all trying to do..grow as much edibles as possible; again I'm fine with 5'. I'm going to be putting in 2 raised bed planters in parallel with 4 bushes in each. Not interested in a BB hedge.
What is your spacing, are your bushes mature, and are you happy with the spacing?

Calvin, Wish list is to finish working on the new house, someday.
Bored? Grab a rake, paint roller, or a cordless drill and come over!

My Blueberry patch spacing is also ~ 5' on center with rows 5' apart following these directions...

Blueberries are a great investment for health and happiness, and Nourse Farms can show you how they are one of the easiest fruits to produce. With proper attention to soil pH, and choosing your planting area wisely, you can reap harvests for 20-30 years or more!
