• Col de dame brun

I was wondering if anyone has had the chance to grow col de dame brun next to the other col de dames yet. I know there was some speculation that it was the same as col de dame gris but I'm looking for hard evidence.
I rooted a few col de dame Brun cuttings and they are growing very well but they look nothing like my col de dame gris trees. The leaves kinda have the cdd look but they aren't as defined as cddg. Any one ever got fruit side by side yet?

I'm not growing it but I think it's more than speculation as Baud lists them in his little book as synonyms.

I didn't know that Baud list them as synonyms, I just remember reading on the forums where some people "thought" it was a synonym. I know the 3 trees I'm growing look less and less like my cddg trees as they grow so I was just wondering if anyone grew them side by side yet.

I guess I'm mistaken, I'm not finding in his book now that I look but I remember seeing a photo or drawing of fruit and the two names listed as synonyms. Do your CdDG leaves look similar to other CdD types?

See my post #13 at https://www.ourfigs.com/forum/figs-h...is-vs-cdd-brun

Although that link no longer works, I did copy the text. I know you're looking for actual growing information but that thread also includes comments from from others that were growing it.

Thanks Harvey, my cdd brun trees do have the typical col de dame look but not the sharp edges and points like all my cddg trees. And I do know this can change as the trees mature, I just know that all the cddg trees I've rooted and air layered all had the same shape to them. I just noticed that my biggest cdd brun tree has a couple little figlets forming but even in out long season I doubt they'll ripen but maybe they'll come close enough to tell if they are the same at least.

I have a Brun too but it has not fruited yet. The leaf comparison I find not very useful , I would like to see the ripe figs on both the Gris and Brun to tell what they are

Yes, same here. My brun and gris do not look related much less the same variety but we all know that doesn't mean a thing, lol.
