130-140 grams is the normal weight of Brunswick's breba in rainfed (no summer watering) conditions. Probably, in the conditions of regular summer irrigation, the weight of the breba will be noticeably greater.

I checked out Brunswick photos. Sure sounds like it could be the same one. Is Brunswick known for producing jumbo brebas?

Nice giant fig but I’m more impressed with the Black Manzanita. I hope you’re able to find out what variety that giant fig is.

Brunswick. Go to F4F and look at the Brunswick picture submitted by Richard Watts.

To torture the group even more. He also shared with me his famous Black Manzanita. Pure berry gorgeousness.

Alastair was kind enough to share with me one of these monsters at his house today. Absolute beasts! Like he said, not overly sweet with a touch of melon and figginess. Insanely juicy and rich with a jammy sweet core. We may never learn the actual name of the variety but it should be called Sweet Bigfoot. These were monster figs people!

  • Another giant breba -- 160 grams -- what the heck is it?

Sorry, I don't have leaf photos. The tree is near Sebastopol, CA. The owner told me he bought it at a flea market six or seven years ago. It makes 2 crops -- elongated, reddish brown figs which resemble Long d'Aout and/or Brown Turkey, but perhaps more amber inside than either of those varieties. I have tasted several figs from this tree (last year) that were starting to sour to the point of containing alcohol. (I like 'em like that!) Also, the leaves are NOT like LdA. Pretty "normal" fig leaves. I'll try and get photos later this weekend. Anyway, the brebas are huge. I almost certainly didn't pick the biggest one on the tree. I would guess there must be some pushing 200 grams, and they're not the least bit watery or fluffy, the way some brebas are. Just soggy, sloppy sugar, with a lot of figgy flavor.

The tree seems to be bearing about an average of 1 breba per branch terminal.

Any idea what it might be? Thanks for feedback.
