I've occasionally seen that in one of my varieties. I assume it's a developmental malformation in which the ostiole fails to close, and some of the flowers that normally are inside end up outside. I don't think it has anything to do with pollination.Southern CA, Zone 10a

I suspect Ktrain is right. Iβve read here on the forum that the ideal is for 2 or 3 wasps to go in a fig and pollinate it. But some figs will get more than that. When that happens, the fig swells up too much, too fast. Youβre seeing the results there.Alan. Los Angeles area. Zone 10b (Sunset zone 24).

I hope your fig wasp figs came from an area where the Black Fig Fly is not present. If you haven't already, read the the PSA on BFF and the thread on Jumping Worms to see where the hot spots are so you'll know if you need to start looking for signs of infestation.βThe best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.
