  • Best Dallas TX nursery for figs???

Trying to finish out my fig portion of my orchard and will be in Dallas this weekend. Are there any nurseries with particularly broad fig offerings that I should swing by and check out?

While I can’t speak for Dallas, The Arbor Gate (near Houston) has the best selection that I have found at a local nursery.

I haven't seen any nursery that specializes in figs. Most of them tend to sell common varieties like Celeste, BT, blue giant, everbearing etc. Recently may be some places sell olympian, chicago hardy, vdb etc but nothing fancy that you wouldn't get where you are.

But items on your wish list like LSU Purple and RDB can be found with a lot of members here, including Dallas based members and you can pick from them.

Lol... our local nurseries combined for one scraggly brown turkey. There is nothing where I am.

Houston is closer to you and you will find better collection than dallas. But there is a good number of hobby growers in DFW and you should be able to find every variety you need. Me and some friends together have around 175 varieties and I am sure there are more with others.

Just east of Dallas in Mineloa there’s a fanatic one that has more varieties than the average Celeste and everbearing. It’s Bob Wells nursery, they may be a little sold out currently cause they tend to have more in the early/mid spring. But definitely give them a look!

Thanks and no thanks... That place looks great, I’m going to have a $200 order waiting on me and I’m sure I’ll spend another 100 when I get there. I’ve been looking for prime ark blackberries for an earlier variety and they have them in stock. Also getting a Loquat tree I don’t need, but fulfills my last season without fruit on a tree of early spring.

Badgerferrit if you do actually go there when they have full stock of everything, you won’t want to leave without taking one of everything LOL.

I’m in that tough stage of life with a baby and a toddler where I can’t just make the drive 2 hours on a Saturday to go to a decent nursery. I have to take advantage of those bachelor trips and buy when passing through. Thanks for pointing me to what appears to be a great one that’s even marginally on my way.
