I can’t say definitively but it’s very unlikely. The Melanzana around here to the best of my knowledge arrived some time ago via peasani immigrating to this area.
Pino may be able to shed more light on that…. The lineage I have stops with him
TorontoJoe interesting thanks. I know so many figs have similar names, and even leaf shapes. I find the serrated icicle type leaves to be somewhat less common in my collection, and my Melanzana looks similar to the picture Vitooch1 posted. Harvey's video does show a greenish skinned fruit though for the Melanzana Meradoscola. The Melanzana you have looks great!
Joe, I gather tis time of year these are brebas?
The Melanzana long (MM) usually are quite long. this one not so much?
Do you have a typical leaf photo.
This is a photo of my melanzana long breba.
.
Here photo of my regular melanzana (round/tonda) breba
Looking forward to this variety. I have some nice sized green figs im waiting on some swelling and color change for my first melanzana. Not sure if there are different melanzanas i got mine from HC cuttings.
