  • Halp! Too many figs!

Needless to say, my fig journey has arrived at its natural conclusion of NO MORE SPACE this summer and I need help making room.

Nothing fancy, but up for grabs are three Violette de Bordeaux and one Improved Celeste (ICON), all well rooted in 1-gallon nursery pots. I let them make figs because I've gone soft-hearted. There is no sign of BFF in my location, so I'll leave them on unless you prefer otherwise. Local pickup only because they are too big for me to work on boxing up.

Pick your tree in the comments and I'll DM you to arrange for pickup. Thanks for helping me help myself. I'd like to say I learned my lesson and will not be rooting every single cutting after pruning this year, but no promises.

UPDATE: That's a wrap, folks! Thanks to all for helping me out, and I hope your new trees grow well and strong for you.

Got any friends who want a VdB?

    • #9
      I have VDB tc.
if there is no one until last minute I want it too so I can replace with tc one.

your VDB looks much better than tc one.
But if there is any one want it give to that person 😃

They all look very happy and healthy. You're doing a good job with them. You should keep rooting them.

Thank you! I was thinking earlier this spring that if I keep going this way I should buy stock in SOLO cups, lol. So many cups!!!

OT, I grew up in South Jersey about 20 mins from Philly, too. I recently found a guy here in SoCal who has a foodtruck and makes actual Philly cheesesteaks. Turned out he's from South Philly and I should have offered him a fig tree.

Enjoy! I found they need daily water in those little pots until you give them more room.

Oh, I just looked at your weather. Much hotter than here!! My VdB gets droopy in the heat, even with lots of water. It recovers overnight, though.

They settle down and start growing again.

        Some sunburn dropped figs.

        survived in hot desert weather
