Ktrain not much the past couple weeks. Just patchy. Plus I have a open greenhouse / cold frame on the end of my house so I can shuffle them in and out if they start splitting. I need to clean it out . my Ginos Black are set to swell anytime now and they need protection from the rain and so far have been our favorite fig. But I have BMKk and Col de dame Blanc set to ripen this year so that may change.7b.. Wish list figs.. #1.Verdalino, #2.Figoin.....

Ktrain . yep. Thats the main plan. Have the trees that arent in ground where each one sits just under the poly roof so they get direct sun morning and evening and still get direct sun through the cover at high noon but protected from rain. I am considering a retractable style poly covering so they auto retract during dry weather and auto extend during rain. Or at least Where I can just press a button and retract or extend with small motors so its easy. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 1 photos.1 Photo7b.. Graft scars healing nicely on this Black Madera kk . my second attempt grafting, the first graft I did took but I over watered the tree and kept the graft covered too long and it rotted. But well worth the learning experience. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 2 photos.2 Photos7b.. Wish list figs.. #1.Verdalino, #2.Figoin.....

Ok so the Brunswick did split after the rain yesterday. I should have held off on watering the tree yesterday morning but was gonna be gone awhile and it was getting fairly dry. Anyway, another Brunswick on day 2 of swelling and looking good. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 2 photos.2 Photos7b.. Wish list figs.. #1.Verdalino, #2.Figoin.....

All good pics man, thanks for sharing.
I also watered yesterday about an hour before it decided to rain....good grief!
Our BMkk look like they are on par with each other...figs are the same size.
I figure I have at least to mid October before the weather gets too cold....so just maybe!
I was going to practice some grafting this year....with taking care of my property and mega hours at work, I just didn't get to it.
Next year though.
I am about the same distance from Chattanooga for the Fig Frolic event....if you decide to go, see ya there!Kevin, N. Ga 7b Cheers!
Wishing all of you a bountiful harvest!

Ktrain I am planning to go. I havnt done anything like that juat for myself in a long time so as long as nothing serious happens I plan to ne there. And bring a couple trees for the White Elephant and trading. Im wanting Italian 258 #4 . the Mellinial Gardener has it in ground and its doing amazing so I want that same strain for here. Maybe I can get cuttings or an air layer from him directly. also Genovese Nero I believe is supposed to be similar if not same /same ish. So wanna try it too. I have a Col de dame Blanc (Baud) air layer thats looking like is perking up after removal. My Col de dame Blanc is very healthy and vigorous, it slowed down when I up potted cuz the potting mix held too much moisture but the roots filled out now and its starting to branch out some. I hope the 4 nice figs on it ripen this year. Its about 2-4 weeks ahead of the Black Madera kk as far as when fruit started forming. My Col de dame Grise is behind them both by several weeks, but they were all just cuttings this past winter so next year they should be more on schedule . and will be planted where they get ground heat for spring wake up and surrounding trees (oaks) are getting cut way back ao I get 1.5- pos 3 more hours of direct light each day.You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. I have the same issue here on my property, I am surrounded by trees (mostly pines) that if cut back some...would give me a good few hours more of direct sun.
As for the Event in Chattanooga, I wish I had known sooner because I had given and sold pretty much all the premium rooted cuttings I had, so I am trying to get a few air layers ready but I don't think they will make it.
I have a YLN and Brooklyn white left....but I think there will be enough of those there, My AL's are Olympian and Martinenca Rimada, but like I said...not sure they will be ready in time.
Millennial Gardener sells his stuff on figbid come cutting season, so maybe you can catch some on there.
My I-258 came from drivewayfarmer on there.
It's still young and small....but has 3 good ones and 1 small figlet starting. (may take the small one off)
Sounds like you have a great collection going, you may want to look into some of the other LSU line up....they do well in the south.

LSU Champagne this morning. Doing well. Still firm and no overswelling from rain yet. Seems to be handling rain very well this year. It will most likely go in ground this fall in a great sunny location. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 1 photos.1 Photo7b.. Wish list figs.. #1.Verdalino, #2.Figoin.....

Green Ischia tree and fig. Figs are set very well and waiting for the final swell too ripen. I had one that was just starting to ripen from this tree and it was tart berry and sweet. But only just barely ripe enough to have flavor. It was good though so theae should be great. I am excited about these. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. Ginos Black... Looking forward to these ripening for sure. Me and my mom loved these yr 1 so looking forward to trying them again this year. They had sweet berry berry flavor when ripe, and tart peach flavor when just starting to ripen. My mom especially loved the peachy flavor so this tree is getting air layered and put in her yard and mine. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 2 photos.2 Photos7b.. Chicago Hardy yr 1. Was a tiny 4 inch tall culture tree late last fall. I grew it indoors all winter and now it has fruit. Well set and waiting for the final swell to happen. I want to compare to Ginos Black. Ive read they are a very similar type of fig so we shall see.You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 2 photos.2 Photos7b.. Col de dame Blanc (Baud) air layer perking up and new leaf emerging . looks like its gonna make it. I removed a little soon but needed too divert energy to the new buds for tree health. This air layer is probably coming with me to the Tennessee fig even later this month. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 2 photos.2 Photos7b.. I need Italian 258 #4 . at least the #4 is what the mellinial Gardener has on his lable. I dont remember for certain but I believe its supposed to be strain #4 . I will have Col de dame Blanc (Baud) and col de dame Grise (Baud) , Galicia Negra, Yollo Bypass, and stuff too trade. Maybe Someone coming to the fig event in Chatanooga end of the month will have one for trade. I really want to get one going now hopefully for next year...... Sneak Peek of my Crested Gecko breeding project. This is a small juvi male. The culmination of 3 years breeding. Now to grow him out and buy a super high end female for him. Only small scale higher end breeding for me. Tjat way it stays pleasureable. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 1 photos.1 Photo7b.. That's awesome...I would love to have another critter but we work too much to be able to take care of them.
Did have an iguana long ago....he got so big I couldn't keep him in my apartment comfortably, he needed more space/ bigger cage.
It's all I can do to keep up with my plants\trees and chickens.
At least the chickens generate a small cash flow, once they are all laying we will have 2 1/2 dozen a day.
Help pay for the wife's new ride. lol
