  • Fig Olympics

My fig loving daughter arrived home last night for a three week stay with us. In the spirit of the times we decided to hold a mini olympic with three top contenders that are currently ripening.

The names were hidden from her to keep it as objective as possible. All three contenders were excellent and deserving of high praise, but just like real life only one can get the gold. According to the consensus of our taste buds the medals were awarded as follows:

Gold: Black Madeira (unanimous and easily the winner of the three)

Silver and Bronze: Split decision, she likes UP better than BG the tartness being a significant factor. I went the other way giving silver to BG

Ideally we would have had I258 included but none were ripe as yet so our apologies to the fine country of Italy.
