  • Improved Celeste (ICON)

My earliest ripening tree is still going strong. That front fig on the plate is a little underdone for my taste, but it fell off as I reached for the others so I'm forced to eat it. Thin skin, soft little brown sugar bombs. They're very nice with a little mellow farm cheese.

Just realized they're much pinker inside this year, not sure why. Last year they were more tan/honey colored. Photo color on my phone matches what my eye saw.

The same color change happened to my Kadotas a few years ago. Maybe pollination
      from the wasp?

Of course if they’re suppose to be pink then that wouldn’t be the case.

I think you're right, must be more wasp action this year. It's so interesting to see the difference. I still think the grayish exterior is not very appealing, though. Wish that part would have changed, too! Finodejete key88sf

They look good, but I would have waited a few more days to pick them. Wrinkly necks are what I wait for.

This is one case where a wrinkly neck is a good thing!

Are you kidding? Who doesn't like jelly?!!! (Well, actually I prefer jam, but I think you're casting aspersions at both here!)

Beautiful crop but my untrained eye has difficulty noting the difference between this Icon vs an Improved Celeste.

It's exactly the same. The ON in ICON means 'oRourke Not', so it just tags the impy celeste as true to type & not the imposter Orourke that lacks raised striations. That's about it

        Welcome BTW!!!

ICON = Improved Celeste O'Rourke Not = Improved Celeste

        They are all the same.

Thanks very much for the explanation and the “Welcome”.
