Why is my PM inbox full when I emptied it of every message several days ago?

From what I can see my inbox and sent are both empty. But if I try to send a PM it says I've exceeded the 500 thread limit. Anyone know what's going on?

Now when I go to my message center the sent items are back but inbox is empty. So when I select all under sent items and hit delete it says they were sent to trash but they don't disappear.

Try going to trash, select all, then hit the 'delete permanently' button.

Thank you. After doing that I was able to send a PM and maybe I'll even get one.
