My First Ripe Figs of 2021

Was thrilled to see some of my early ripening figs - Ronde de Bordeaux and Improved Celeste - ready for picking. But, I left them on the trees for another day or two, just to get the best out of them. Surprised how fast they swell up and ripen within a week or so.

I think the hardest part of growing figs is waiting that extra couple of days to let the figs get to peak ripeness.

Except for the other car is full of birds and pests that never swerve.

That's why I put organza bags on all of my figs, including these two. Hoping the birds and squirrels get the message.

I am going to have some ripe figs in a few days - I have to leave town for work so I won't be able to pick them early like I usually do.
