Since I lost my Big Celeste tree of 18 years with the Big Dallas Freeze, I am glad I rooted quite a few cuttings and also purchased a few air layers from different people. One of those was a Ponte Tresa and was excited to see some nice figs getting ready to be harvested. One in particular was pretty large. Although I built a cage to protect my new figs from birds, I was disappointed to find that 4 of the Ponte Tresa figs were all gone the morning after I took the attached pictures. I am wondering if they were eaten by squirrels or rats. Any idea from the experts out there about the culprit and what else I could do stop that from happening again. Thanks.
