  • A good harvest this week!

My potted trees are coming into their prime now. Really surprised by my Unk Ciampa (a Mt. Etna type from a friend in Williamsburg NY -- the mother tree was about 40-50 yrs old and originally brought over by some Italian immigrants). I didn't know what to expect as this was the first fig I've tried off my tree, and it was amazing. Intense blackberry flavor with a light seed crunch -- really blew away my Hardy Chicago in terms of flavor and intensity. Definitely a keeper. I'll probably have some cuttings available this winter as I'm pruning it back.

Wish list is pretty common so I'm hoping to snag some cuttings in the off-season.

JMF75 Smith was my #2 favorite for this assortment. It had a very jammy texture, with the taste of strawberries covered in honey. An excellent fig and I am looking forward to the rest of them ripening.
