  • Premium Fig Tasting - SoCal

Today I was fortunate enough to sample and compare some top shelf varieties side by side. Varieties on the table include:

    Lampeira Prusch
    Campaniere
    Thermalito
    Figoin
    Cravens Craving
    Bordissot Negra Rimada
    Capoll Curt Negra
    Burgan Unk
    Kuato
    Azores Dark

A few of these were either not perfectly ripe (Campaniere, Capoll Curt Negra & one of the Cravens) or did not ripen properly (Lampeira Prusch & Thermalito) but man were they delicious. BNR and Figoin took too honors. My toddler couldn’t get enough of the BNR.

Really hoping to compare Bordissot Negra Rimada and Paratjal Rimada side by side this year.

I’ve been to cheap to fork out for it so far. May have to reconsider

Halligan- this one seems to have it all with one exception…it doesn’t seem like a vigorous grower…at least in my experience with it. Maybe that will change. Could also just graft it.

I know everyone raves about it. I’ll have to trade for this fall. Thanks!

Unfortunately, my time is at a premium with a toddler and a 2-month old so I wasn't able to make a video. I'm planning to do a side-by-side comparison video of Paratjal Rimada and Bordissot Negra Rimada if I'm able to get both to ripen at the same time and then maybe a few over comparison videos in the near future. I wish I had more time
