I wanted to start this thread for documentation purposes on this variety. This is a new introduction from Bass and originates from the ancient city of Byblos in Lebanon.
From my very short time with this fig, it’s apparent that it’s extremely productive and continues to set figs at every node as it grows. It goes from green to black as it ripens and the skin is very very soft and slightly fuzzy, as you can see in the photos. This was the very first fig that I’ve sampled from the tree and the pulp is dense, rich, sweet, has a unique flavor that I can’t quite describe but will hopefully get more specific flavor notes on the next figs. These are small figs and the eye is extremely tight. The fig stays very well attached to the tree and has potential to dry on the tree. Bass also notes that this variety is supposed to be early. For a first fig, this one was very tasty. Looking forward to more!
