  • Can someone explain

Why I can’t login to this website after I disabled the cookie setting on my device? What are cookies used for? We are not purchasing anything. What information is being collected here?
I think we have a right to know.

I found this online for Vbulletin, the parent site that hosts ourfigs. Below it is the link with the rest of the data they collect.

    Cookies

We may place a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. The cookie itself does not contain Personal Information although it will enable us to relate your use of this site to information that you have specifically and knowingly provided. VBULLETIN.ORG uses cookies to track user traffic patterns (as described above). Our advertising system delivers a one-time cookie to better track ad impressions and click rates.

You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. Cookies here do things like mark which posts are read/unread so the site can display those differences to you, they note which threads you subscribe to so you can receive notifications of activity, they let you jump to first unread posts and move around the forum efficiently. IMO forum cookies are benign, but a nice compromise is enabling the cookie notification setting in your browser as mentioned above.

Thank you. I don’t want to sound paranoid it’s just that you hear so much today about people hacking into computers and stealing information that’s personal or worse.

I totally get that. It's good to ask questions and know what you're dealing with. Figgerlickinggood

Without cookies, there is no way to stay logged in. JT explained it well.
