  • CLBC Main 2021 - The Colonel doesn't disappoint!

Both my second year trees are quite large and well formed, but have been super shy to bear fruit - I have had a total of two now this season! The first was not ripened properly, but this second is pretty fantastic. Interestingly, both trees are not pumping out the new little figs, so maybe I will have a decent amount late, late season.

Amazing texture, just the right thickness/bite to the skin, strong dark, rich berry but not overly sweet and good medium size. Reminds me of a Figo Preto (CC, BM, etc.) but with more of a CDD texture. A must have variety, easily top 5 for me, and justifies the duplicate space in my small garden.

Looks great, how old is your tree, mine is 3 or 4 years old and didn't have a lot of fruit ( 3 or 4 )

Its really vigorous and will make a really good rootstock for next season

My one year old CLBC has been slow growing.
Even with weekly feedings it’s taking it’s on sweet time.

Not that I'm happy your tree is growing slowly, but it's nice not to be alone. With this one.

The best time to plant a fig tree was 80 years ago. The second best time was 50 years ago. Oh well.

Wow, that looks amazing! My 2nd year tree has two figs that should ripen this season and some smaller figs that I should probably remove because there isn't time for them. This is with a greenhouse head start. It is not an easy variety so I'm glad that it is worth the effort.
