It's a shame about the tree you got from Raintree. I have a Pastiliere in its first year in a 3 gallon pot that has a couple figs on it. At least one should have enough time to ripen but I am expecting it to drop based on the reputation of this variety. I'm hoping that by the 3rd year I might get figs.

I'd be so pissed Ross. Call them, they will send you a replacement tree. I'm planning to get one from them one of these years, after I sort through some of the trees I have now.

I called them today. They need me to send them a picture of one of the figs.. I was like will a video due, haha. Anyway, I'm sure they'll send a replacement.

RT is quite reputable, so I'm rather confident they will replace it with an actual Pastilière or else issue a refund should they be out of stock. But it doesn't make up for all of the time and effort you've put into growing the other one. So disheartening.

The Pastilliere from RT, is one of my favorites, here in my climate. Even though it dropped about 1/2 its crop, I believe it is worth the wait for it to mature. It is early, good sized, and has an outstanding flavor. It produces main crop here as early as any I have, even RdB.

Gary. Forgot to thank you for the pictures. They'll definitely be a good use to me next year. Whatever I have.. can't be this, hahaha.

Gary, how old is your Pastiliere? It is growing in-ground, correct? Does it seem to drop progressively less as it gets older? Finally, do you think it is pollinated?

Hey Steve, I got it in April, 2014, from RT. I planted in ground in 2015. I can't say that it dropped less this year, it is just much larger, so it wasn't as noticeable as when it was small. Pretty sure it has not been pollinated.

Here's my Pastiliere from UCD. I was seriously thinking of getting rid of it until it finally ripened 6 figs this year. With luck next year it'll double the amount. It was definitely worth the wait.

Steve I gave my tree blooming type fertilizer this year. It could of been the fertilizer that helped it to fully ripen the figs or possibly the fact that it is just getting older. Just to be on the safe side I plan on giving it the blooming fertilizer from now on.

I find this helps tremendously on all figs. Especially on varieties that are known to slow to produce.
