  • Latarolla VS Lyndhurst white

I remember it coming up periodically about lyndhurst white and latarolla possibly being the same. I have not seen any comparisons with pictures. I wish I could have had them side by side, but finding the ripe lyndhurst was a surprise the next day. From what I see they are the same. The leaves and fruit appear the same, and the same variations. They also taste the same to me. There are pictures below. Also, both trees are from very good sources.

This is something I have been wondering about! Thank you for posting.. I was just having a discussion with Tony (mountainfigs) about this as well, and he is in agreeance with you that these 2 varieties are likely synonyms.. I'm very grateful to have members (like you & Tony for example) to learn fromπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ. I do have Lyndhurst White, and enjoy it very much both for its size and early ripening time.. If only it didn't get waterlogged and split so easily! It definitely has a place in my yard and I am very happy with it this year.. Perhaps I need to devise some kind of automatic umbrella for it though during ripening times πŸ˜‰Hehe

Anyway, I also have both lattarula (not lattarola) and Italian Honey.. Originally, I wrongly assumed lattarola and lattarula for being the same tree, and couldn't understand how or why people considered it to be synonymous with LW because IMHO they are very distinguishable from one another.. However I can definitely see that IH & Lattarula do appear to be synonyms to one another.. Now where does White Marseilles fall in here? None of mine have ripened yet, but so far the unripened figs & leaves appear similar to IH and Lattarula.. Would you share your opinion with me? Thanks a whole bunch for the post & pics πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

I only have Italian honey. I thought that white marsallies was the same as the other two? I know it does get lumped into the same family of figs.
