September is childhood cancer awareness month. This is near and dear to my heart because I have a good friend whose daughter has fought (in remission now) a pretty advanced cancer. Plus, we had a scare of our own with our 3 year old, which thank God, he is fine. But that was the worst thing I have ever gone through. Unfortunately, so many families have to deal with the real tough news that their kid has cancer.
I don't have any super rare figs ready to auction, but I do have a nice Battaglia Green that is currently in a 7 gal container. So this is what I am offering for the auction. I would like 80% of the payment to go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and 20% to go to uncle Wills so he can run this forum. I will also match both donations.
I will start the auction now and end it on Friday at 5pm eastern. Whoever wins the auction will have to show proof of the payments and then we can work out a good time for me to ship. I plan on removing the actual container and shipping this bare root. I will shake away some of the soil, because this thing is very heavy right now.
Attached are actual pics of figs produced from this plant. Battaglia Green is great tasting fig that produces beautiful figs. There are quite a few figs on the plant right now, and if you live in the right climate, you should be able to eat some in the next month or so.
