This is what keeps this hobby so great and terrible at the same time... the discoveries of new cultivars or rediscoveries of ancient strains keeps the sport fresh... and yet it makes it so hard to finally say: I'm done, there will not be any more trees added to the homestead!CA 9b "May you sit under your own fig tree..." This metaphor, in use since Solomon, is a wish for the receiver's spirit to know peace, for their family to be secure, and for their life to be fruitful.

The pic of the Fico Lupo (LUV/Wolf) kind of reminds me of the pics posted by one of our Dalmatian members back on 9/1 (https://www.ourfigs.com/forum/figs-h...ties?pp=108053 Post #6). The pictures of those figs were very blue / black as well... Dave and I both commented on that at the time...Tony - Zone 6A

BrooklynMatty,
You are absolutely correct, but will try to keep a Fig at least 3-4 years. I remember giving away a vdb because I have a rdb. The vdb has fruited very well.
Ross,
Andreas always has the most amazing pics. It seems like there are no bad Figs in Greece. It makes you want to take a vacation there.WL:1-Bass'FavFig 2-KaryasPrasina3ParatjalRimada

Space seems to be the biggest factor for most. Be it in ground or winter storage for potted trees.
Once we run out of space, we start to reason with ourselves about what we can move or sacrifice to add that must have cultivar. We try to convince ourselves that one cultivar is substandard or ill suited to our climate in order to make room for another.Scott - Colorado Springs, CO - Zone 4/5 (Depending on the year) - Elevation 6266ft

For me, the end is Black Madeira/Figo Preto. Figs are for eating, not for looking at, so the color of a fig isn't important to me. This variety is usually the very best tasting and most productive. Since it ripens so late, other figs like RdB are needed to pass time until BM/FP is ripe. But it's worth the wait.Mara, Southern California,
