  • Get out the Antidepressants πŸ˜’

At least for some of us. I told yous my climate change quick. Week ago high 80F. Now summer is gone. Cold, grey sky's, rain, sleet and damnit snow. Hell the trees and grass are still green. Last winter was no too bad. I have feeling tis winter ganna be bad. Even the king salmon started running already! They normally don't come in for another month. For me the salmon run is like groundhog says no more summer in general. So tis weekend we start cutting drums.
normally when is a week of weather that no show 80f+ is bad sign

Well, it was fun while it lasted. It's a wet, chilly, day out by my neck of the woods as well. It's only a matter of time before the snow starts to blow.

I'm from Iowa and actually it doesn't look too bad for midwestern weather in late Sept/early October. Some varieties will still continue to ripen nice figs under those conditions.

But cut those drums this weekend anyway - you have a lot of in-ground figs!

Oh yes and depending how well drums work my orchard will double if not triple by next winter.

The grass is always greener....I would love to have some of that weather right now. I am so sick of 90 degrees and 75% humidity at this point

Ha! Come spend vortex weeks here. You will pray to go home to hot humid. Ever have your nose hair feel like nails in your nose? Or lips crack so bad from all the street salts in the air with high winds? Trust me. Tis winters suck! That and everyone thinks they are best skill drive in snow. I wish I could post video here

There are very few places that ate a happy medium, not to hot in summer.... not to cold in winter.

I tried one barrel last year, so this year I'm going to try more. I started working for a company that delivers product in large barrels six weeks ago, and they said I could take some of the returns that come in for recycling. I am thinking of taking some to make a heat sink also- for when I build a hoop house.
