  • New member introduction

    Hi All!
I was invited by Wills to join the forum. Just thought I would introduce myself.

I'm Ken and I'm from Northeast, OH. I started collecting fig trees about three years ago. First fig tree I bought was a Brown Turkey from a person on craigslist. Soon after I tasted a fresh fig for the first time, I had to get more. I now have about 20 trees and looking to add more varieties to my collection.
I hope to learn from you all and possibly pick up a few nice fig varieties from some of you.
Wishlist: mega celeste, de le reina, raspberry latte, hollier

Welcome! If you are hoping to add to your fig orchard by rooting cuttings, generally the least expensive method to add trees, a lot of us will be doing pruning and offering cuttings after our trees go dormant this fall. Are you growing in ground with protection over the winter or in containers?

welcome Ken. Buy your first aid kit now. it should contain good potting soil supplements and an extra acre of land. A larger mailbox will be helpful as well as bribes to mail carrier. You might want to put a thermometer in your pocket to frequently check you temp after receiving fig packages and cuttings. Upward spike in temp will mean that you have "Fig Fever" sorry no cure, but lots of peeps here to say sorry (snicker snicker) hope you fell better soon.......LOL Great place to be and you will be very happy to have found us.
