I got my first fig tree last spring. It is a hardy Chicago that was a stick about 18" tall. It grew nice over the summer and I pulled off the figs that popped out. The warm weather is awakening everything including my fig tree. It has a couple dozen small figs popping out and no leaves. Should I pop those off this year? I am in zone 6 and we can still have frost for the next month so I will be careful about hardening it off. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I think that if recurring cold knocks them off naturally, you should not need to pick them off. Anything that survives to ripeness is a blessing in our harsh northern climate. I do not find that there are enough brebas that come to maturity to detract or weaken ripening of main crop here is northern tier of states, but it is a concern for some people.Last edited by Rafaelissimmo; 03-22-2015, 05:04 PM.Rafael
