  • De La Senyora report from today's pickings

I have a potted DLS that has been in my greenhouse for a few weeks to help with ripening. Today, I was able to eat 4 figs back-to-back and I can describe the flavors better.
First, this is the fruitiest tasting fig I've ever had. Imagine something along the lines of strawberry/cherry punch. I might even say it tasted like a Preto/Black Madeira but with more fruity tones. Not as complex, but in that flavor category. If the flavor was a bit sharper, it would be in my top 3. The greenhouse ripening could have affected the flavor, perhaps. It's not the prettiest fig, but the flesh color is amazing. The beauty lies within! Has anyone else tasted this fig? What are your opinions on the flavor?

Great photos! Based on what you know so far would you say it is a late fig? Or is it late this year because your tree is young and maybe with maturity it will ripen much earlier?

Thanks everyone. It is a late fig for sure. Last year they were late to ripen as well.
