Hello all! I have 5 potted figs that are 2nd year plants. Chicago Hardy. I'm going to trim (propegate cuttings) and put them in the garage for the winter. I am looking for info on cold hardy varieties that can handle NY winters and wind.

Hello Scooter,
Welcome to our figs forum community.
There really are no cold hardy Ficus carica varieties. They are native to a temperate dry zone 9 - 10 and some hardier and healthier varieties and cultivars can survive colder zones with protection.
Here's a topic on some hardier cultivars,

Its located in the Sticky Topic on the 1st page of the fig forum, Index of Topics (Frequently Referenced),

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Ronde de Bordeaux and Florea may do well for you, both are relatively cold hardy and early ripening.
Improved Celeste is another I recommend for the same reason. Many other varieties just don't ripen fruit in short season locations un less you havery a greenhouse- a real bummer!Jesse in western Maine, zone 4/5
