Brian, very nice. I am getting about half of that but they are excellent. Temps have been in the 80's until today and will have lows in the 40's. No frost or rain in sight.

Which fig is the Italian black becnel?

I got two different figs both called Italian black becnel. One is a jet black mission type. The other is bronze colored when ripe with red interior.

I obtained the Italian Black directly from Becnel's nursery................its a large black fig with light red interior,Mr.Becnel has been planting and selling this variety for many years, this year I was very surprised by this fig ,very productive and a good second crop of very delicious figs .

That's a great crop. The LSU Gold looks really good. Kind of a quiet fig I always anticipate, maybe because of its shape.

Crazy long fall here continues, and looks to keep going. With some modest heat and rain these past days, this batch of figs ripened this weekend, unexpectedly. All in ground. All Mt Etna except for two Brooklyn White. Real good flavor:

Tony -- how cold is it there? We've had nights generally 32-45 F. Every fig I have is shut down except Paradiso.

Weather screenshots of the past two weeks and the projected next two weeks here, attached. You can see that this coming Friday things are to take a significant turn for the colder, though no arctic blast by far. At least two weeks has been added to the growing season this year, and counting, compared to last year as I recall.

Makes me wonder if we'll pay for it later - even climate change aside.

I'm glad to hear that LSU Gold is turning out tasty for you in our area. I have heard and read several reviews saying they are just okay in quality. I have a couple of young trees that I am hoping will produce next year.

CliffH, the LSU Gold tree I have is a few years old and the figs were great. I put it in ground next to my house to help promote its growth. I think you'll like it as well, especially once your trees get older.

I was told not to grow them in Florida, but I got 3 nice trees going that I rooted last year. Hopefully the slightly open ostiole doesn't cause any problems.
