  • Would someone care to guess which variety this one might be?

I planted this fig earlier this year at the community garden. I had lost the tag. Now I'm scratching my head as to what it might be.
It turns out that none of my figs have these leaves patterns. So it became a community surprise.
    Thanks in advance.

It reminds me of my Chicago Hardy. What color are the figs inside? What do they taste like? How big are they?

I believe that Chicago Hardy has a more elongated fruit. The inside of this one is similar to a Violette de Bordeaux family in color.

    Sas,

    Maybe Gino's or Malta Black?

Never got a Gino's Black and I have a Malta Black, with different leaves. Thanks for trying.

That squat, fat fruit shape is different than any variety yet mentioned yet. No clue what it is, but it isn't those!

I had a Barbillone from UCD which I cannot locate it at this point.
I'm thinking perhaps, it could be a Barbillone, a Maltese Beauty, a Black Marseilles or one of my unknown Sicilians.
          Any votes?
This tells you that I have losses and it is very easy to lose a tag especially when you're just starting out.
It is the rounded edge of those leaves that make this one different than anything I currently have that could compare it with.

Barbillone has an amber interior, doesn't it?

Doesn't look like Maltese Beauty pics that I've seen.

Doesn't really look like my MBVS either.

The process of elimination, leaves the unknown Scicilian Black. Great guess Johnny. Thanks everyone.
It is a very promising variety. I will monitor the progress of this tree and report at a later date.

Woot, I'm slowly upping my id accuracy to slightly better than wild guessing. Sicilian Black (JR) was really tasty when I grew it. If the ID guess is correct, then you should have a taste winner.

This tree became part of the public domain, so the name is meaningless, but would like it to produce as many figs as possible to feed the community. I was puzzled by the leaves and how productive it appears to be.
If people discover that it might be a rare variety, they might strip it for cuttings instead of allowing it fruit
