It is a food with figs. Just in case somebody is craving the figs while going through the winter. That's all about it, not an Ad

Have you tried the semi-dried frozen figs from Trader Joe's?

No , I have not. In general, I think the frozen figs are terrible for eating since mostly very low quality figs are used for that and the texture becomes quite a turn-off. On the other hand, the TJ dried figs sold in clear containers seem to be very good.

They do sound good, even though using soft-baked and biscotti together is a total misnomer. Sort of like "Hot Chocolate ice pops!" or "Crispy pudding!"

Trader joe's has two types of frozen figs from time to time... one is just whole frozen and the other is part-dried and then frozen. I agree with Igor... I think they are both terrible.

I might have to see if they have the fig biscotti here. Sounds interesting.

I too prefer Biscotti, homemade biscotti. The ones with a crunch. They too are excellent with coffee!

              • #12
I'm going to TJ tomorrow to find some dried figs, bought some last week from local chain they were good but had a very tough stem and skin and not much flavor. Tomorrow night, I will try making some fig Biscotti. Made cranberry-anise last night, they are OK, but tomorrow the fig biscotti will be much better.

Thanks for the note about missing figs, just never thought to make fig Biscotti.

WILL NOW! I'll make fig/orange flavored biscotti and for a kicker - a light tart lemon glaze.

We will see, or I'll go back to the drawing board!

Love them Cuccidati! Mine usually looked more like Dave's although when making in quantity, I made the bars the size of 2 kitkats bars or about 3"x1". If I made enough and got really lucky, I had a few left to enjoy to New Years day...
