  • Hardy Chicago types & Honey?

I've seen a few rare pics, but has anyone experienced a Hardy Chicago type with honey/syrup dripping from the eye? Consistently?

None of my varieties "consistently" drip syrup from the eye, but many occasionally do, including the Mt Etnas.

In no way consistently is about as precise as I can get, Ross, and that applies to every cultivar here not only Mt Etnas.

The reason I'm asking is because of a variety called Enola Italian #1: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Tim-Clymer...kAAOSw5cNYPM8z

I spoke with Daniel about the variety and he said that Enola Italian #1 has honey/syrup dripping from the eye 75% of the time. It's one of his sweetest figs he says. I set up a trade with him for cuttings to trial them out for myself. May be worth trialing because that would differentiate this Hardy Chicago type enough from all the others.

This year all of my Hardy Chicagos that ripened during the last week in Sept dripped homey from the eye. None have done that before or since. There must have been some reason but I certainly don't know what it is.

Maybe it was your warmest part of the year?
