  • Green Moss

I was gifted a few small trees by a friend. One has green moss growing on the top of the soil. Should that be a concern? If so, suggestions on how to take care of that.. I just got some Physan-20 and it seems to indicate it is good for algae, etc. Should I spray a diluted solution on it... or simply not worry about it.

If it is really moss, I'd worry that they're being over watered...

Could be.. rainy season and plants are in 1/2 gallon pots right now. But, this is the only one with moss. The kind that grows on the roof on the north facing side.

I've gotten plants from nurseries before with algae on the surface. Can't say whether or not it hurts them but in my own sand growbags last winter, algae formed a mat on the surface of the sand and caused too much wicking of moisture and killed a few newly rooted cuttings. Older plants were not affected. I stopped top watering after that and it went away.
