  • The NEXT Greatest Fig EVER!!!!

In search of the next greatest fig EVER.... I am going to send a request to 77Peony, Robrod815, Dausername1 and Korina77-2008, all of whom have many active ebay auctions going on right now, asking if they have any really rare and highly desirable fig varieties for sale at a great price so I can get in on the ground floor for the next greatest ever fig...

Any recommendations for what I should ask for?

Ask for the true bicolored Dall'Osso or the Luv fig.
See if they have cuttings from a tree that is hardy down to -35F with figs the size of cantaloupes and sweeter than pure sugar.
Put me down for 3 of each. I'll give them the deed to my house for payment.

I heard "Fico del mongibello alla vesuviana della santa maria del san francesco di assisi in puglia turco" has a nice, tight eye! And a flavor that packs the wallop of a meteor hitting earth at 102400000 miles/millisecond.

I actually got one of these from 77peony77. It was the very last one so I got a real deal on the cutting at $75. He/she said I can make a fortune because it grows so fast I can sell at least 45 cuttings from it the first year it leafs out.

Is the rumored flavor profile for that fig true? I heard it said it tastes like sweet and sour goat....

Super! I assume that it is a red fig with a beautiful deep reddish, berry center?

Like I said in the other thread and I quote myself "I have the next big fig. I am the only one that has it. I am not talking about it and I am not sharing it." And yes it is guarded by Bears. I doubt I could ever be bribed.

No torturing Phil, he got enough of that on 2/5 (is this too soon).....

Phil, Bribe #1: I shall never speak of 2/5 again for one cutting of the fig who's name shall not be spoken....and I shall never speak of it's transfer to my mailbox! (what transfer?)

The rarest fig cutting ever offered from 77Peony, Robrod815, Dausername1 and Korina77-2008 is one that is rumored to be able to grow roots and shoots!!! Thus far I have been unable to obtain this cutting.

lol... let's kick the badger and see how it responds.... I like it... I suspect our buddy "pofigist" on F4F will recognize the inquiry as coming from me since I try and poke her in the eye every once in a while just to show her we are paying attention.... :-)

How about Inzhir Moshennika(if they react to that you know they understand),very common variety on eBay,frequently mislabelled, very lucrative for the seller and very difficult to root(you need to use voodoo or be a necromancer)

Tony, it's not the cultivar 'Ice Crystal', but it is a seedling of a Persian wild fig, which to me reads as it's a F. afghanistanica specimen. The wild mountain figs I've grown from seed so far seem to be consistent with F. afghanistanica, though hybrids with carica are always a possibility.

My Lg. Vignes Purple Bardonnex UNK may just be the fig, if it doesnt turn out to be Violette Dauphine in side by side trials this season. That fig was spectacular, well the corner that was dead ripe on the overripened fig was anyway I couldn't fit three figs in one hand...it was a beauty for sure.
