Those are so beautiful. Do you know the traditional name? A google image search returned Kilfi and Kolaches, although there seems to be a few different types of both of those pastries.

Looks great, Dave! I make these, too, around Christmas and Easter. It is tradition to make them with lekvar ( prune) and apricot, but I used fig as well for the last few years, and the fig kiffles are the first to go...while the lekvar ones just sit there all night. I use powdered sugar ( my grandma would kill me for that and also for using fig filling). Kiffles and nut roll, doesn't get any better than that! Are you Hungarian/Slovakian, Dave?

I want to try this pastry next there was a bakery in my town about 30 years ago and they had the best Hungarian cookies on the planet and I remember them saying the pastry was all butter it was a very flaky pastry this recipe maybe close http://betterbakingbible.com/cookies...liday-cookies/Wish List -

Look great, Dave... My Mom makes these too and also varies the filling... Here is a link to Croatian Kifli...
Note that the traditional ones are usually crescent shaped and my Mom makes one with ground almond which is amazing...
