I can't tell with the snow covering the in grounds...
Tony - Zone 6A
WL- Good Health, a 60 lb Striped Bass, a Boone and Crockett Typical Buck, bushels of ripe Black Madeira figs, bushels of ripe Hachiya and other tasty Diospyros Kaki Persimmons
Little bb sized green buds emerging in many places. I'm going to do my grafting this weekend before sap flow gets heavy. Although I did have to scrape ice (frost) off my windshield early this morning.
Signs of life here in North GA also. Not much of a winter for us this year so I consider myself very lucky.
in ground :
folly beach ukn black (most likely a type of Celeste) lead the way about a week ago ,now with quarter sized leaves and a bunch of fig embryos that will eventually fall off.
Lsu purple a close second (three of them all in tune )
local Celeste variety (6, starting to break now)
hatdy Chicago. ..fully dormant!!
I think that is what makes the H C such a cold hardy variety, better suited for the Northern growing zones. It consistently buds out last and has that ability to distinguish between a pseudo spring and the real deal . It stays dormant until all frost possibilities have past year after year ..
the rest of them get to excited after a few warm days and if (knock on wood) a late frost hits they pay the price!!
fig intelligence? Maybe or just an adduptation.
2 hours east of Wills Dukes mixture. Some completely leafed out some with leaves breaking some with green budded tips most in pots or sips a few in ground
