I saw this little bugger crawling on a leaf. At first I thought it was a bit of potting mix. The plant is newly up potted to 1 gallon, still indoors, Lindhurst White.

Phil, do a search for "carpet beetle". I encounter 2 or 3 in my house every year. I've never seen them outside so I couldn't help with how much damage they can do. I don't know if the carpet beetle is your culprit, but your picture looks like it.Alma from Maryland 7b

Looks similar to a little fellow I found on a fig when I was looking at some discoloration of a leaf. He seems to have a big smile on.
Not sure if it is a carpet beetle or a tick.
In my case the fig did fine, the discoloration was caused by the soil mix not the bug.
