  • They're Alive!!! They're Alive!!!

For all you in the Northeast or in places that had a tough winter, let's see some photos of your figs if they have started to break dormancy. Here are my figs waking up from their long winter slumber. This was the first winter for my greenhouse and I'm glad that the figs came through the winter well and are breaking dormancy about 4-6 weeks before they did last year.

thanks, Kerry. The cuttings I bought from you are doing well. I'll post pictures when they are potted up. Thanks again for the generosity.

Here are some more photos of my younger figs. Notice the different leafs on the main stem of the Ischia fig and the side shoot. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Wow, you are way ahead of me, and I am way South of you. I have buds just breaking on several but no formed leaves yet and the few brebas are tiny yet. What's your secret?

All these figs are in a greenhouse that gets morning sun. They started breaking bud about 3-4 weeks ago. It get's into the 70's most days in the GH.

The GH is in Picture #5 in the first post. It has definitely helped get a jump start on this year's fig season. I've never had brebas on my large potted unknown before and it will be interesting to see if they ripen or just drop as the season progresses.

      Looking good, fellow northerners!
The greenhouse is a wonderful tool, Kevin's happy plants are testifying to that.
I think I need one, too....

My 1 in-ground fig hasn't shown signs of life yet but maybe next week it will start to awaken seeing it's supposed to be in the 70's all week.

Finally got my up potted cuttings out into some fresh air. Protected under a high deck where they get morning sun only. Keeping an eye on the overnite lows, may have to shuffle back in, let's hope not.
