  • Some Early Air Layers

Last year I had all sorts of problems getting successful air layers. The number one problem was mockingbirds destroying them. This year, I tried camouflaging them with old rags. It seems to be working. These two below are 3-4 feet tall air layers (instant trees).

    Those look great!

How long did it take and what was your air layer mix? Thanks.

I want to do this. It looks fun!

It interesting how the roots grow around the side container holes rather than out through the holes under the foil.

Good luck with those Frank. What size container did you use for the air layer?
That's a lot of top growth to support.

I used promix HP with a tablespoon of water absorbent crystals, in a 32 ounce deli container. It took about 6 weeks.
