  • Fresh figs at Whole Foods?

I found a tray of fresh figs at Whole Foods last Saturday and bought the last two. The box said the figs were from Gless Ranch in Coachella Valley, CA. Does anyone know what variety they could be that would be ripe now? They had a mild, sweet taste, sort of like a watery coca-cola with almost no seeds. The box described them only as organic brown figs.

I remember getting fresh figs at Whole Foods about this time of year last year from Gless Ranch in Coachella Valley, CA. The package was NOT marked "brown figs" but they very definitely looked like Black Mission to me. The ones in your picture look very odd indeed.
