My wife is dragging me, kicking and screaming, to that God-forsaken place in France! For 3 whole weeks !!
What's a guy to do? Please keep me in your thoughts, it'll be a struggle but I can survive this.

    Sigh.....

Frank, where are best spots in Provence for figs? Hopefully there will be some brebas to taste at outdoor markets.

Hershell, you better keep the mob at bay, or they might take your Violette Dauphine.

If you're bored go check out Thierry's nursery in Doulle, it's about a 4 1/2 hr drive from Provence.
            He has over 200 varieties!
I will be touring the French and Spanish Pyrenees last week of august and first week of september, do a little carp fishing and fig hunting of course.
It's funny how for the second year in a row we chose the same holiday destination!

Very funny, guys...you'll all have to get past my 300 lb house-sitter to get to the figs.

Off the top of my head, Sollies, Barbentane and Caromb are in Provence. They have several fig festivals but unfortunately are scheduled after our stay.

Rob, great minds think alike! Can't find Thierry on Google, though. Do you have a link or map location?

I'll pick everyone up in my truck. Franks swimming pool will be a welcome site and the Alma sisters will entertain us. Stay away as long as you can, Frank.

Rafed, I'm only 45 minutes from I-95, I'll meet you there and help pay for gas. Gas in Florida is expensive.

And we're not worried about the 300lb house sitter. A 6lb pot roast will do the job of distraction.

                          OK, that tears it!
The trip is cancelled...so no need for a caravan of fig pirates to make their way to Tallahassee.
Oh yeah, and I put my sitter on a diet, just in case.

This article is clearly "cruel and unusal punishment"

Enjoy your trip...maybe even find "the" tree.......I would clearly have to buy an extra seat for the return flight, after eating during one or more, of the festivals

FMD , his phone number and email address are in here. http://figblog.binhoster.com/pepiniere/
He even has over 500 varieties!

Pierre Baud is closer, his pepiniere is in Vaison la Romaine, in the Provence region.
Besides Baud's nursery the town is well worth a visit, one of the hidden gems of the region and not really discovered (yet) by tourists.

Don't forget to go check out "Carriers de Lumieres in Les Baux de Provence, it's amazing!

Camargue natonal park is also a must see when you're in the region. Famous for the wild white horses and flamingo's.

The old Roman aquaduct at Pont du Gard, close to Nimes.

You can thank me later lol.

Thank you now, Rob! I was ignorant of the fact that Baud's location was so close to where we are staying, which is in Saint Roman de Malgarde, 17 minutes away from his place. We are leaving Friday, so I have a lot to research. Too bad I don't live in Europe.
Yes, Baux is on our list....but Douelle is May be a tad too far.
