So, I started this airlayer maybe a month and a half ago on one of my Hardy Chicago trees. I started it on a strong shoot that was right at ground level so it was a bit harder to see the roots than I would have liked. I saw a couple on the side of the plastic and decided it was time to remove the airlayer. I should have studied the rootball a bit closer since there are not nearly enough roots to support all of this growth. Do you think it will survive? Should I prune it? The good thing its that I have several more started and I will wait longer for each.

More experienced people will chime in, but I would prune it to one leaf and treat it like a freshly rooted cutting.Scott - Colorado Springs, CO - Zone 4/5 (Depending on the year) - Elevation 6266ft

I think you can save it. If it seems to struggle I would remove all the leaves except the top two to conserve water loss through evaporation and place it in shade until the roots establish.Randall - Flomaton, Al. zone 8. https://www.youtube.com/c/FlomatonFamous

I learn from WillsC that you must be patient and wait unti bag is jammed with root. Is hard to wait but the payoff in end is worth it.You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 1 photos.1 PhotoZone 5 Chicago IL Wish list:
