  • UCR UCD Fig Trees

UCR UCD Fig Trees had to have come from somewhere and some must be known by a common name other than just a number. I have several and I wonder where or what they came from. Were they a result of a program, were they found in someones back yard?? Someone, somewhere must know or there must be some kind of documentation, one would think.

The trees designated as UCR came from the test fields @ University California at Riverside Campus (R) the (D) designation is Davis Campus. Most are from seedling hybrids (man made selections).... many from the work done by Ira J Condit @ UC Riverside. The Pedigree at the bottom of the GRIN DFIC pages will sometimes list the crosses and selections that were made, http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs...lay.pl?1000257

Pete, if I understand you correctly, Excel and Galbun, for example, have UCR numbers? They were both bred by Condit if memory serves.
