These little buggers pack a big punch in flavor. They are only the size of a quarter but have an intense flavor. Kind of like a concord grape and that dark berry flavor. I believe this to be the true Valle Negra, but could be wrong. The main crop don't get any bigger.

That's super. I appreciate small figs as much as large, if not more.
Is this cultivar sometimes referred to as Negretta, any idea?Tony WV 6b

I'm not sure. What do you think of the leaf pattern? This came from Sergio in Italy, via my buddy in New Mexico.

I'm triply not sure. I'll have to take a look at the leaf pattern of my rooted cutting tomorrow. But in the meantime, the following Gardenweb post goes into Valle Negra, Negretta, Bianchetta, Valle Calda or Piombinese, and Binella or Gallo, a mostly but apparently not entirely small fig bonanza:

Valle Negra leaves look almost identical to Negretta. The only difference I can find between the leaves is that the leaf stems on Negretta are reddish. My Negretta came from Maggie who got it from Sergio. Sergio got Negretta in Tuscany while Valle Negra is from northern Italy near the town of Breno in the foothills of the Alps.
The first picture is of Valle Negra and the second is of Negretta. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 2 photos.2 PhotosWishlist; Green Michurinska, St. Rita

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a Valle Negra cutting or tree. Anyone out there who could help me out?
Also - regarding the discussion about long finger leaves or not - any differences in resistance to cold conditions?
That's why I'm looking for a VN in the first place...
Thx a lot!

Thx. Still don't see it, but the auto subscribe function is in place now.
I read somewhere else, that also the valle negra at times has finger style leaves like the valle calda, but the fruits from valle negra and valle calda are different.
Anyone has a side by side comparison?
