My critters are definitely not cats or dogs.
Squirrels take the entire fig off to eat on the side (most of the times ), raccoons will eat more than one and usually make a huge mess. Possums? I think not the birds too.

Ex-Raiders Cheerleader. Her anorexia kicked in before she could finish eating the whole thing, furthermore..she then left one of her poms in her confused hyperglycemic state.

Damn… It explains why only the figs on the low branches are half eaten. It must be a lazy possum, can they stand on their hind legs?

I saw it tonight! It was an Opossum, midsized , was looking for snack but I bet him to it this time

Possums sometimes can be caught while they’re asleep during the day and Animal Control here would pick them up if called. Our officer once said she takes them to a beautiful orchard dripping with ripe fruit a distance away and releases them. I found a possum asleep in my basement a few years back. He just snuggled down and ignored me, as if he owned the place. I found another one asleep under a pot I used as a base for a statue. Again he refused to move, went back to sleep. There’s a small one now under a trashcan on the north side of my house. It poked its nose out and looked worried when I was returning trash cans after trash day. My plum, apple and unknown fig trees make more fruit than I can eat, so there’s enough to share. The raccoons that try to catch my koi are more of a worry but covering the tank each night has worked so far.
