  • Valle Negra breba

There was only two breba on this year and it was ripening nicely but then....... mockingbirds found it. One of them was just starting to peck at it at the neck of the fig, as I went to check it's progress. I know I should of left it on and did some kind of protection but they're pretty smart birds so I picked earlier than planned. Even though it was picked too soon it was surprisingly sweet. No berry taste just sweet with a figgy flavor.
One more to go in hopes that it can fully ripen to perfection.

Yep. Some say they're identical. Others say no, but either way, they resemble each other in nearly every way.

I don't have Nero 600 to compare it to so I can't confirm or deny it personally but many say they are one in the same. My tree has it's origin from the foothills of the Alps in northern Italy near the town of Breno. I don't know exactly where Nero 600 came from but maybe someone here knows where it got it's start. Does anyone here have both to make a side by side comparison?

I have both but the Valle Negra is growing as a newly rooted cutting now so it would take time for me to make the comparison. I'm sure others have both as mature trees.
