Between clonex and Rhizo I have had better success with Rhizo

I couldn't edit what I wrote when I use Photobucket..

I used the same method with the exception of using a a cloning product. I cleaned the cuttings with a Mild Bleach solution. Coir Soaked in Foxfarm Big Bloom. Squeezed until damp. I cupped them today..

Looking good. I have some coir that I will soak in general organics diamond black. It has 6.0% Humic Acids derived from Leonardite. Hopefully that helps with rooting. Maybe stronger roots.

I realize I don't live in the ideal zone for the Preto but I chose this over the Black Madeira. By next year I plan on buying a small Green House.

BTW, the Rhizo Gel is 2000 PPM IBA rooting hormone, which is comparable to Dip N Grow @ 5X dilution (1 part DnG to 4 parts water).

Thanks Pete .. I was hoping you would weigh in on the Rhizo Gel. Ill eventually do some side by sides with Clonex but for now the Rhizo Gel is performing well.

I wasn't sure if green cuttings were harder to root ..But these took. I also have Green Sals EL and Lyndhurst White Cuttings that I put right into cups and skipped the Coir.. I hope I see some roots on the sides of the cups soon.

Congratulations on getting those beautiful roots. The next step can be difficult, what is your plan?

I mixed ProMix HP with Extra Perlite. Dampening 3 Cups worth with Foxfarm Big Bloom mix. I weighed each cup with a gram scale. I'm undecided on if I want to cover them in a big plastic container or just let them out now indoors. I'm scared of to much moisture in a plastic container.

Your right about this being the difficult part. That's what scares me.

You could also have used the same rooting Coir as part of the potting mix in the cups. The "Extra" Perlite could be added to the coir to form the Cup Potting mix for the initial Cup/Growing/Plug/Hardening stage before up potting to 1 gallon and larger containers.

The attached photos are of cuttings that were rooted in Coir (in a gallon plastic bag) without hormone and up potted in the same Coir (without added Perlite). A humidity dome is usually only needed for cuttings that have leaves and no roots. Rooted cuttings without leaves can be misted a few times a day to keep them for drying out if needed.

Pete, I'll have to try it next year I think I'm done buying cuttings and plants for this year.. I'm looking for an Improved Celeste but for now I'm done.

I've been reading all your posts when you ran trials using Hydroponics it's very interesting. I might try experimenting this winter with a Hydroponic system.

When rooting green cuttings I always keep them in high humidity until they root. But trust me it's a fine line with rotting. Keep in mind too where you are going to keep them after you transfer. Mine are put outside, covered but 100 degree weather. Petes advice is spot on as always but I prefer the humidity with green cuttings and no leaves.

Green Cuttings to me means that they are actively growing or 'Summer Cuttings' the leaves will usually need some initial added humidity. For individual containers I've usually just inverted a clear cup on top. note the added photos of the Soda Bottle SIP with a 1 Qt inverted Deli Container... IMO, If the growing tips are still closed then they are 'dormant'

The alcohol in Dip & Grow is really hard on green cuttings. I've stopped using it and now use clonex with or without KLN presoak.

Thanks... I would never have used Cloning Gel because I've done so great without it. MINUS the LSU Purple and Celeste and Hardy Chicago(It wasn't so hardy) .... Don't laugh lol... They died.. I'm also having a hard time with my Maltese Falcon cuttings but I'm not giving up. I already have a Maltese Falcon but just wanted to try rooting them.

I'm now a believer of the coir. Got roots in two days after putting the cuttings in. They also had time to get ready to root in shipping too.
