Thanks Bob, That looks like great fun! I sadly wouldn't have anything to contribute just yet, and with two very young children, this year may not be the year. But I am excited to hear that these things take place, I look forward to being able to attend one, perhaps when I have developed a collection!

I'm new to the sport! I've got two unknown varieties on my property that have been there for 10 or 15 years probably, but I got bit by the bug pretty hard. I do grow many other things, but have been looking for a perennial edible that suited me. All these fig varieties have my head spinning, I'm looking to purchase my first few named varieties asap.

Welcome to the forum. Growing things seems to be in the blood of many of us here. Besides your fig trees what else are you growing?Dave- Waterford, Ct. Zone 6a

I do a lot of bonsai, of which prunus mume is my primary media. I grow many japanese maples, and enjoy growing unusual edibles. Gingers, cold(ish) hardy tropicals, just got a curry tree(!), herbs, I've got an old apple orchard that needs serious rejuvenation, you know... How about you?

I am presently growing orchids, plumerias, grapes, blueberries, lots of summer vegetables and herbs, and of course figs. I dabbled with bonsai for a while, but overwintering became an issue for me. However I love them. Maybe one day you will go off topic and post some pictures.

No question is dumb and no one here will be snippy to you like other sites. After all new ways every day to do things and nobody knows everything. this site is like Forest Gumps box of figs you don't know what you are going to get until you open it. LOL Joyce
