  • Black Madeira 2015

This is my first fruit ever, on a 1st year plant gifted to me by a kind gentleman. Taste was good, but it does not match the complexity of a mature Preto yet. Love that honey drop.

I'm protecting a few figs on a very small tree .....hiding, moving from place to place under the cover of darkness so no one gets any ideas....the first one has shown color with the heat we've had lately....

Rafael, I certainly understand. I have lost so many figs to the critters this year. Several
are first time figs and two trees I am down to my last fig to try. I have a organza bag over
it, then a clear plastic cup cut down the side and I slide it down over it and then I have
bird netting over it. The critters can find a way. Its not just birds but chipmunks and
            either possums or raccoons also.

Mike I am noticing that organza bags getting wet while covering a fig is not a good thing, it seems the figs start to spoil quicker, maybe the humidity?

you never know whos going to show up on your doorstep when the figs start coming in....

Rafael, that is probably true since the bag will keep them mostly covered and wet.
The plastic cup split down the side and then placed over the fig and limb if possible
will keep the birds off and allow for air circulation also when its raining.

Not in my yard, Mike. My birds love shattering anything I attach to my trees including air layers.

Frank, your birds are more destructive than mine. LOL
