Kure Beach Unk. yum!

For a first year fig, this was incredibly good! I'm not good at profiling flavors or rating, but this is a top notch fig IMO. It could have ripened another day or 2 but I could not wait any longer! A large fig as can be seen in the pics, and it had a dry spot at the bottom for some reason, but excellent flavor. Better than my 2nd year Chicago Hardy (which is all I have to compare with presently).

Nice! I go to that beach sometimes. Is the mother tree there?

Yes, supposedly it came from that beach. Not sure exactly where. I've never been there, but I've been to Wrightsville and Carolina beaches.

Yes Kure beach is just the one adjacent to Carolina beach. It is just a little less built up. I am heading down that way this this weekend, maybe I'll run into it!

I think I will go on a hunt for that tree. I am not inclined to go onto someone else's property and take cuttings, so hopefully they are around when I find it.

I got another one, even bigger. Not quite ripe but we had a lot of rain and I was afraid it would split. Very good taste but a little watered down due to all the rain. (Not sure why the 3rd photo was upside down... it looked fine on my monitor)

Hi Charlie, good to see here! Let me know in the fall I should have some. Unfortunately I have to move to Texas... i am hoping they will all survive the trip.

Now, my HC is only on second leaf, while KB is on first. So that might change down the road. HC is a good fig for sure.
